The revised All Facilities Letter (AFL 21-34.1) introduces new vaccination requirements for healthcare personnel (HCP) in California. The updated letter requires HCP to be up to date with vaccinations and receive boosters by February 1, 2022, unless exempt. It also updates testing requirements, mandating at least twice-weekly COVID-19 testing for unvaccinated exempt HCP and booster-eligible HCP who have not yet received their booster in acute care or long-term care settings, and at least once-weekly testing for such HCP in other healthcare settings. The revised letter includes additional direct care settings, such as in-home direct services workers and hospice workers, in the vaccination requirements.
