The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) outlining updated visitation waiver, testing, and vaccination verification guidance for visitors related to COVID-19 in adult and senior care residential facilities. The PIN, effective from January 7, 2022, requires facilities to verify the vaccination status and test results of all visitors for indoor or outdoor visits. Facilities must be in full compliance and the order will remain in effect until February 7, 2022. The updated guidance emphasizes the importance of vaccinations, boosters, and prevention efforts, including testing and masking, to protect vulnerable populations in long-term care settings. Facilities must have a plan in place for tracking visitor vaccination status and documentation of negative COVID-19 tests, and records must be kept on file and made available to CDSS or local health jurisdictions. The PIN also provides best practices for visitation to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
