The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued Provider Information Notice (PIN) 21-52-ASC, which summarizes and provides implementation information for legislation affecting licensed Adult and Senior Care facilities. Effective January 1, 2022, the CDSS will use the full spectrum of oversight and compliance activities to ensure compliance with the new statutes. Key changes include requiring facilities with internet service to provide at least one internet access device for client or resident use and prohibiting licensed Social Rehabilitation Facilities from making false or misleading statements in marketing materials or on their websites. The PIN also updates reporting and notification requirements for COVID-19 exposure in the workplace. Non-compliance with these new regulations may result in disciplinary actions, including civil penalties, license suspension or revocation, individual exclusion from a facility, or other disciplinary actions as specified in the Health and Safety Code or Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
