The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) extending COVID-19 related waivers for Adult and Senior Care (ASC) licensees and Continuing Care Retirement Community providers until March 31, 2022, or earlier as determined by CDSS. This extension is in response to a potential surge in COVID-19 cases and the approaching flu season. The waivers cover various aspects such as visitation, staffing ratios, staff training requirements, and medical assessments. Facilities operating under existing CDSS COVID-19 waivers can continue operating until the expiration date. The ASC Program will work with licensees and providers to adjust and transition facility operations before the waiver authority expires. Individual waivers and waivers for multiple facilities will continue to be available resources beyond the expiration of COVID-19-related waivers. Healthcare facilities should stay informed and comply with the updated regulations to avoid potential consequences for non-compliance.
