The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) outlining updated quarantine and isolation guidelines for Adult and Senior Care (ASC) facilities. The PIN states that fully vaccinated staff who are asymptomatic do not need to be restricted from work following exposure to COVID-19. However, asymptomatic staff who are not fully vaccinated must quarantine and be excluded from work for 14 days after exposure. If a staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they should be excluded from work for 10 days, regardless of their vaccination status. The PIN also provides infection control practices for staff commuting to work. Facilities must adhere to these guidelines, and non-compliance may result in consequences. The updated guidance supersedes previous guidance from PIN 20-38-ASC.
