The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) announcing the availability of the BinaxNOW™ Antigen Testing Program for COVID-19 for adult and senior care (ASC) facilities. The program, run by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), offers benefits such as free Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waivers, ongoing supplies of Abbott BinaxNOW™ tests, onsite testing, and a user-friendly reporting platform. ASC facilities interested in participating must apply through the CDPH's application webpage and follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provided upon enrollment. The program allows for testing of all staff, persons in care, and visitor screening before entry. Non-compliance may result in consequences for the facility. Facilities must ensure they are up-to-date with current regulations and follow the guidelines outlined in the PIN.
