This letter outlines the requirements for nursing homes and other healthcare facilities to post nurse staffing information on a daily basis. The information must be posted in a clear and readable format, in a prominent place readily accessible to residents and visitors. It must include the facility name, the current date, the total number and actual hours worked by licensed and unlicensed nursing staff directly responsible for resident care per shift, and the resident census. The facility must also make the nurse staffing data available to the public for review upon request at a cost not exceeding the community standard, and must maintain the posted daily nurse staffing data for a minimum of 18 months, or as required by State law, whichever is greater. This new regulation requires nursing homes and healthcare facilities to post current and accurate nurse staffing information in a visible and accessible place, as well as make it available to the public upon request.
