PIN 24-02-CCLD, which supersedes PIN 22-06-CCLD, has CDSS CCLD CPMB updated recommendations, guidance and best practices when initiating a background check. It provides step-by-step instructions on how to navigate the application process in the Guardian System, including uploading documents and accessing self-serve options.
As a reminder, AB 1720 discontinued the requirement for applicants to disclose criminal history information prior to receiving Live Scan results (PIN 22-16-CRP)
Application Process Recommendations
Start in Guardian rather than going directly to a Live Scan vendor and submitting fingerprints – allows DOJ data to match successfully with the application and eliminate unnecessary delays.
The PIN has the steps for applications initiated by the Applicant and the steps for applications initiated by the Provider
Applicants are currently clearing within approximately 14 days when no criminal history reported by CA DOJ, FBI, and no match found in AARS. DOJ has 14 days to provide criminal record history to CDSS.
