The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) stating that all COVID-19 waivers will be rescinded on February 28, 2023, and all licensing requirements will be reinstated on March 1, 2023. This follows Governor Newsom's announcement that the COVID-19 State of Emergency will end on February 28, 2023. Healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, must resume regular pre-State of Emergency operations and adhere to all licensing requirements from March 1, 2023. The CDSS will continue to offer guidance and assistance to facilities in addressing COVID-19, and facilities needing help transitioning away from waivers are encouraged to contact their local Adult and Senior Care Regional Office. Infection control prevention and mitigation regulations for communicable diseases in healthcare facilities must still be followed, as outlined in PIN 22-13-ASC. State Public Health Officer Orders released by the California Department of Public Health may remain in effect even after the State of Emergency has ended.
