The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a Provider Information Notice (PIN) announcing the COVID-19 Test to Treat initiative, which offers rapid access to free COVID-19 treatment through nationwide pharmacy-based clinics, federally funded health centers, and long-term care facilities. The initiative aims to quickly connect eligible high-risk individuals with appropriate treatments, such as oral antiviral pills molnupiravir (Merck’s Lagevrio™) and nirmatrelvir and ritonavir (Pfizer’s Paxlovid™). Healthcare facilities should post this PIN in accessible locations and share it with visiting healthcare providers. The Test to Treat program is available to individuals aged 12 and over who qualify for treatment. The initiative will expand in May to focus on reaching hard-hit and high-risk communities, ensuring equitable access to lifesaving treatments. Individuals can also continue to be tested and treated by their healthcare providers, community healthcare clinics, and telehealth providers. A list of Test to Treat providers and long-term care pharmacy providers is available on the ASPR Test to Treat Locator.
