The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) outlining updated guidance for background check applicants and agencies, as well as customer service updates. The Care Provider Management Bureau (CPMB) encourages the use of the Guardian system for background check applications and management. To create a Guardian account, healthcare facilities must submit a Guardian Licensee User Access Form. CPMB has increased staff to handle phone inquiries from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. For background check inquiries, facilities should email Guardian@dss.ca.gov, and for Guardian login support, email GuardianLoginSupport@dss.ca.gov. The PIN also provides information on self-service functionality in Guardian, background check processes, and training resources. Healthcare facilities should familiarize themselves with these updates and ensure compliance with the new guidance.
