The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) in response to the Governor's Proclamation of a State of Emergency due to the Dixie, Fly, and Tamarack fires. The PIN allows CDSS to grant temporary waivers for certain licensing requirements for affected healthcare facilities, including assisted living facilities, adult residential facilities, and child care facilities. These waivers may include limitations on license capacity or facility location, reduction or waiver of fees, and adjustments to personnel requirements or staffing ratios. Facilities must submit a written request to the appropriate CCLD Regional Office to be considered for a waiver. Waivers will be granted on a case-by-case basis and will only be in effect as long as necessary to address the direct impacts of the fires. Background check requirements will not be waived, but clearance transfers and exemption transfers may be expedited. Facilities are encouraged to review relevant PINs and contact their local CCLD Regional Office for assistance.
