The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) announcing the resumption of annual inspections using the Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement (CARE) Tools, effective August 1, 2021. This supersedes the previous PIN 21-25-ASC. Onsite inspections will now focus on all health and safety requirements necessary to support compliance with statutes, regulations, and other written requirements applicable to adult and senior care facilities. Inspections will also continue to include the infection control domain. Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) will be required to follow COVID-19 testing protocols, daily symptom screenings, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) during inspections. Licensees should continue to follow requirements and guidance from CDSS, as well as other relevant health agencies. Non-compliance may result in penalties or other consequences.
