The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) extending the authority for COVID-19 related waivers for Adult and Senior Care (ASC) licensees and Continuing Care Retirement Community providers. The waivers, initially set to expire on September 30, 2021, will now expire no later than December 31, 2021, or earlier as determined by CDSS. This extension is in response to a surge in COVID-19 cases in California and allows facilities operating under existing CDSS COVID-19 waivers to continue doing so. The waivers cover aspects such as visitation, communal dining, group activities, non-essential services, outings, new admissions, entertainment, and various licensing requirements. Once the waivers expire or are rescinded, all licensing requirements specific to the waiver will be reinstated. The ASC Program will work with licensees and providers to adjust and transition facility operations before the expiration of CDSS' waiver authority. Requests for individual waivers and waivers for multiple facilities will continue to be available resources for licensees and providers beyond the expiration of COVID-19-related waivers.
