The California Department of Health has issued a new All Facilities Letter outlining temporary waivers of specified regulatory requirements for home health agencies due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The waivers allowing home health agencies to provide care prior to obtaining approval from the department will expire on July 17, 2021. Home health agencies with existing waivers must be licensed before this date to continue providing care. The temporary waiver of specified regulatory requirements for services, staffing, and supervision will expire on September 30, 2021. Home health agencies will have flexibility in providing therapeutic services via telehealth or other remote methods until this date. Patients may be under the care of a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, or physician's assistant during the declared emergency. Supervision of licensed and unlicensed personnel may be conducted virtually until September 30, 2021.
