The California Department of Health has issued an All Facilities Letter (AFL) to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), informing them that the Concentra contract for fit-testing services will expire on June 30, 2021. All fit-testing services provided by Concentra must be completed by that date. The contract was introduced in January 2021 to provide training and fit-testing for SNF staff who must wear respiratory protection to perform their essential duties. Facilities are strongly recommended to submit their fit-testing resource requests well in advance of the contract expiration date. Concentra currently administers a medical evaluation and Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire to facility staff prior to fit-testing appointments. Follow-up examinations and fit-testing services must also be completed by June 30, 2021. Facilities should continue to coordinate with their respective Medical Health Operational Area Coordinator (MHOAC) and use Salesforce for medical and health resource requests.
