The California Department of Health issued an All Facilities Letter (AFL) on September 14, 2020, notifying healthcare facilities of a recall notice for Advoque Safeguard's N95 Particulate Filtering Respirator, model number ADVO001, effective September 10, 2020. The recall affects masks with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approval number TC-84A-PHO02, which can no longer be distributed or used as N95 level respirators. Healthcare facilities with inventory of these masks should immediately cease use and distribution. While the masks can be used as face coverings, they should be removed from circulation due to potential confusion regarding their effectiveness as respirators. Facilities that received these masks from the state can return them and request replacement N95 NIOSH-approved masks. To do so, they should complete the Advoque N95 Recall Survey and email SOCMHCCOPS@soc.caloes.ca.gov. If the masks were distributed to other entities, they should be notified and asked to complete the survey as well.
