The California Department of Health has issued an All Facilities Letter (AFL) informing healthcare facilities of the Fiscal Year 2020-21 license renewal fees, effective July 1, 2020. The Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) will send renewal notices and applications to facilities 45-120 days before the license expiration date. Facilities must ensure they receive a renewal notice and contact CHCQ if they do not. Late payment penalties will be imposed on facilities that are delinquent in paying license renewal fees, and there is no grace period for payment. The department may offset any money owed to the licensee by the Medi-Cal program or other payment programs to recoup license renewal fees and associated late payment penalties. Facilities should review the License Renewal Application in its entirety and submit any necessary changes to the Centralized Applications Branch. Licensees are advised to use a mailing method that allows for tracking the status of mailed payments and to allow 4-6 weeks for license processing.
