The California Department of Health has issued an All Facilities Letter (AFL) requiring General Acute Care Hospitals (GACHs) to report COVID-19 data daily to ensure a proper response to the pandemic. The letter announces that the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) will submit data on behalf of hospitals through the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) TeleTracking, replacing the National Health Safety Network (NHSN) system. Hospitals must continue to report to CDPH daily via the COVID-19 Tracking Tool. The tool will be updated on July 22, 2020, to reflect new reporting metrics required by DHSS. GACHs are encouraged to review the data dictionary provided by CDPH before inputting data. The tool will replace daily reporting to CDPH district offices and DHSS. All other reporting requirements to CDPH district offices will continue using the standard reporting process.
