The California Department of Health has issued a new All Facilities Letter informing healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009/10 license renewal fees. The new fees, effective as of July 1, 2009, have been approved by the California Legislature. Facilities must ensure that the number of beds/facilities listed on their renewal fee page is accurate and should contact their local District Office if there are discrepancies. Payments must be made on or before the current license expiration date, regardless of whether a renewal notice has been received. Late payment penalties are statutorily set and cannot be waived. Facilities should allow 4-6 weeks for processing of their license due to heavy workloads. The FY 2009/10 fee schedule is available on the Licensing and Certification (L&C) website.
