The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued a new All Facilities Letter (AFL 21-10) announcing a change in the way it issues licenses to healthcare facilities. Effective March 1, 2021, the CDPH will implement a paperless process for issuing licenses to increase efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint. Licenses will now be issued as a Portable Document Format (PDF) and sent via email to the licensee or the facility's general contact email address. Healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, must continue to post their license, or a true copy thereof, in a visible and accessible location for public view. Facilities with questions about the new process can contact the Centralized Applications Branch (CAB) by phone or email.
