The California Department of Health has issued an All Facilities Letter announcing the realignment of license renewal dates for healthcare facilities, including nursing homes. This change aims to streamline the renewal process and eliminate confusion caused by the current system. Licenses that were due to expire between June 30, 2007, and October 30, 2007, will be extended into November 2007. Initial licensure, Change of Ownership (CHOW), and provisional licenses with effective dates between June 30 and October 31, 2007, will also be extended. Subsequent renewals will occur annually in November. Facilities will receive a renewal notice approximately 120 days prior to their license effective date. The license fee will be based on rates approved in the 2007-08 Budget Act and will include a prorated fee for the extended months. Facilities impacted by the alignment will receive an official notice of extension, which must be posted with their last previously received license.
