The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) updating guidance on the transfer of criminal record clearances or exemptions between licensed healthcare facilities. Effective January 1, 2023, individuals must submit transfer requests using a form provided by the Department or via the Department's secure online portal, Guardian. The new PIN removes the requirement to submit a copy of a driver's license or other valid government-issued identification with the transfer request. Instead, the licensee is responsible for verifying the individual's identity. The Department will verify whether the individual has a clearance that can be transferred upon request by the licensee. The updated guidance applies to all licensing categories except Home Care Services. Licensees and providers should familiarize themselves with the new requirements and ensure compliance to avoid potential consequences for non-compliance.
