The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) announcing that information about licensed Adult and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly with COVID-19 positive cases will be posted on the CDSS website. This is in response to Governor Gavin Newsom's Proclamation of a State of Emergency related to COVID-19. The data includes the facility name, county where the facility is located, and total count of COVID-19 positive cases, updated daily. Facilities with a capacity for seven or more persons in care that have reported 11 or more cases of persons in care and/or staff who tested positive for COVID-19 will be listed. The information is intended to inform the public of the current COVID-19 situation in facilities licensed by the CDSS Community Care Licensing Division and does not suggest neglect or wrongdoing on the part of the facility. Healthcare facilities need to ensure they are accurately reporting their COVID-19 cases to the CDSS. Non-compliance may result in penalties or other consequences.
