The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) announcing the launch of new inspection tools for Adult Care Facilities in Spring 2020. The Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) is refocusing its efforts on prevention, compliance, and enforcement to improve the consistency and effectiveness of the inspection process. The new inspection tools were developed through a pilot program involving Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) facilities. The tools will initially be implemented in select regional offices in March 2020, with full statewide implementation by the end of the year. The new inspection tool will affect various adult care facilities, including Adult Residential Facilities (ARF), Adult Day Programs (ADP), and Residential Care Facilities for the Chronically Ill (RCFCI). CDSS encourages licensees to familiarize themselves with the new inspection tools and processes by visiting the Adult and Senior Care portion of the CCLD Inspection Process Project website.
