The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has issued a new Provider Information Notice (PIN) 22-12-CCLD, which supersedes PIN 20-16-CCLD and provides updated guidance on the use of the Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) for state-licensed facilities. The PIN clarifies that the LIC 198A form may be used to request a CACI check for an individual, but will not provide subsequent notifications of CACI matches from the Department of Justice (DOJ). To establish subsequent CACI notifications, individuals must submit LiveScan fingerprints under an applicant type that prompts a CACI search. The LIC 198A form cannot be used to add a CACI check to an existing criminal record clearance or exemption. The form will still be used on a limited, case-by-case basis, and facilities should contact their local Regional Office for assistance with any questions regarding its usage.
