The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has issued a provider letter (PL 2022-15) reminding nursing homes and healthcare facilities of their responsibility to respond to offsite reviews and virtual investigations in the same manner as in-person, onsite investigations. Offsite reviews include complaints or provider self-reported incidents that do not warrant an onsite investigation but require administrative review. Facilities will be contacted by LTCR staff for a telephone entrance conference and follow-up email detailing the required information and submission deadlines. After reviewing the submitted documentation, LTCR staff may request additional information or conduct phone interviews. A telephone exit conference will be held to discuss the outcome and any potential non-compliance. This reminder comes as HHSC has increased virtual and offsite investigations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
